After trying and failing for a while now to meet Irish people here in Eindhoven, I am putting a call out to see if I can knock the local Irish bar in Eindhoven off the first six pages of Google hits for “Irish in Eindhoven”.
Anyone who has found our page, we are an Irish couple in our late 20′s/ early 30′s who have been living in NL for four years in total, and two of those in Eindhoven. The couple of times we have met Irish people here, they told us that they were flying home alot as they couldn’t settle here. Their work was here and their social life was back in Ireland. We even met a couple of Eindhoven widows last Paddy’s night, over from Ireland for a couple of nights visiting their boyfriends.
We would love to meet other Irish people like us. We miss the banter, the craic and the carvery lunches. But we also love living here, and feel like we can all help eachother out. After four years here, we would love to set something up for the Irish expats in Eindhoven and Veldhoven, because we reckon there are alot of us here but other people may be leaving due to homesickness or integration problems. If you are single, a couple or a family this is a fantastic place to live and immigrate to. There are many companies here where English is the working language, others are going to Canada or Australia to find work- it’s not necessary.
